Matt and Meg's Wedding Weekend Adventure, Aug 14th-16th, 2009

Meg's Day (as documented by Julie's pics)

The bridesmaids hit up the beauty parlor early Saturday morning, getting ready for the show...

Meg's dress looks awesome!!!

Some fun magazine poses...

Julie takes a pic of everyone in the limo, and a self portrait...

The limo makes a stop at the reception site (Alice Cook Hall), prior to the chapel...

Then back to the limo. Next stop: Sage Chapel! Beautiful hair, Meg!

Matt's Day

The groomsmen, Heidi, and Wendy, accompanied Matt to the reception house ~11am, and tossed the frisbee around near the Gothic buildings. After Matt checked into the Statler with the Ratagans, while the rest of us helped the Mitchell's chalk directions to Sage on the side walk, we had lunch down at Short Stop deli...

Then it was back to the hotel to dress up. The groomsmen sandwiched into a Honda Civic, cranked some Beach Boys on the CD player, and drove to Sage Chapel. The groomsmen scouted the perimeter, ensuring Matt would not encounter Meg prior to the altar. Then the groomsmen waited outside, ready to hand out programs, and escort such fine guests, like Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell...

The Wedding and Reception (thanks to Julie, Kathy, and the Mitchells for pics)

I snuck a discrete "no look" pic of the bridesmaids at the beginning of the ceremony, then flagrantly took a pic of Meg being guided by mom and dad. Figured that absolutely NO ONE would be looking my way while Meg was walking down the aisle. :-)

Some pics from Kathy Mendell of the bridesmaids and groomsmen...

I snuck one more pic when mom was giving the reading. Meg and Matt's custom vows were beautiful...

A pic of me with Nicole and Erin, taken by the Mitchells...

After a detour to exit the chapel, we congratulated the bride and groom. Nick and I were SO proud of Meg and Matt!

After the ceremony, the families gathered for pics. I was able to stitch 2 of Kathy's pics for this great shot of the Mitchell side of the family...

More pics taken by the Mendells (Julie, must be)...

A great pic of Natalie, Nicole, Veronica. And Nick and Hiedi...

The wedding party made their way to the limo. I looked back and saw a sight to behold: All my grandparents walking up the same sidewalks I spent my college days, with the clock tower in the background. Felt like a timeless image...

The limo was stocked with champagne...

Grandma Mitchell peaks into the limo on her way to the car. Gotta love Ariel's expression in the limo...

Seamus opens the next champagne bottle, to finish pouring glasses for a toast. Just as we made our toast, it was time to stop and take photos at the law school...

Walking down to the law school quad...

The photographer was a class act. He let Meg and Matt propose all the shots, and then offered suggestions to make them work...

The Cornell law school is so beautiful, certainly a stellar backdrop. A pic of the bride and bridemaids...

Matt and Meg had pre-screened the premises, and knew what angles they wanted. This archway was stunning....

After several more arrangements (including a James Bond pose), we headed back to the limo, where I finished my champagne glass...

In a couple minutes we were out again, at the gothics on West campus, for more photos. A look out at the clock tower and limo...

The sun was back out, and offering unique photo opportunities. Will be curious to see what the pro photographer will come up with...

We walked down to the reception area, took a huge group pic, then walked to the limo to make our grand entrance to the reception hall. Here's Nick with Julie and Kyle...

Meg and Matt started the event with a dance...

...which was followed by a dance with dad and Meg ("My Girl")...

Next Matt danced with his mom, to a Joni Mitchell song, that she used to play on guitar when Matt was little...

Brianna, Seamus, and Ryan, all gave speeches before dinner...

Later, before the cake, I, Julie, Ariel, and Nick gave toasts to Matt and Meg...

The cake cutting. A pic of Wendy and me...

The dancing started up, right after the cake cutting, and the energy stayed all night. Dad and Meg groove it up to "Brick House". Towards the end of the night, Matt and Meg brought out the stylin' sunglasses to help get down...

More sunglasses action...

Some memorable songs of the evening, Thriller, Billie Jean, The Heart of Rock and Roll (Huey Lewis), Mixed Business (Beck), Take On Me (A-Ha, Matt and Meg acted out the video), Come on Eileen, and the perfect closing song "Don't Stop Til you Get Enough" (Michael Jackson)...

Meg and Matt ordered an extra large dance floor for the reception, which was taken advantage of by all...

Matt and Meg hardly left the dance floor all night...

Cornell had never had a wedding reception in this hall before, but after the success tonight, they will no doubt be advertising in the future...

Mom and dad looking very happy on the dance floor...

Wendy rests from dancing with a bite of cake. Nick and Heidi on the dance floor...

At the end of the reception, the bride and groom escaped in their decorated car. The best men, Seamus and Ryan did a great job decorating...

Everyone left the reception filled with happiness after a wonderful ceremony, party, and celebration. A year's worth of planning acted out with great success! Congratulations Matt and Meg!
