So. California trip: April 10th, 2010 -- Los Angeles, Wires in the Walls concert.

Wendy and I picked up Matt at 9:15am, and started the drive down to LA. Our first stop was the outlet mall in Gilroy, where Wendy made a quick sweep though some clothes stores, and then bought a dutch oven on sale at Le Crueset. At 10:45am, we headed down route 101 to LA, a longer, but more scenic route than I-5, since this would be our one time driving from San Jose to LA. The road was indeed entertaining, and traffic was good, and we learned that Google maps has live traffic conditions.

Yellow flowers line the hills, across from the ocean. The drive down was pleasant...

We met up at Nick's place, but there was no street parking, so we converged at The Grove, an awesome outdoor mall and food court. Meg and Ariel joined up with my mom, Matt, Wendy, and I, while my dad rested at the hotel, tired from fighting so much traffic. Driving around LA is absolutely horrendous due to the traffic. I had a crepe with eggs, avacado, and tomato. Later we headed to the Bootleg theater to catch my brother's show. He plays bass guitar in the band Wires In The Walls. This show marked their 2nd EP release. They rocked hard, and it was very enjoyable. ~150 people showed up. Check them out here: http://www.wiresinthewalls.com.

And if you have 5 seconds, and would like to help Nick's band out, click this link, and vote for Wires In The Walls, as LA band of the month: http://la.thedelimagazine.com/snacks (I'll take this down after the contest ends April 30th).

Afterwards, my parents, Wendy, and I drove to a hotel near the airport, where my dad had cashed some hotel points for a suite. My parents needed to catch the 6:30am airport shuttle for their flight. Wendy and I would be traveling to San Diego tomorrow.
