Utah trip #2: Day 3 (July 25th, 2005)

We got up evening earlier today, in time for the 6:30am breakfast, and then headed south for the 75 miles to get to the Needles entrance of Canyonlands. It's a bit of a drive, but totally worth it, as the terrain there blew Nick and I away last time. Fortunately, not many people know that it's worth the extra drive, so it's never that crowded.

The drive down during sun rise was spoiled by clouds and some rain. 2 months ago I got to experience the morning light, and I was hoping my family could likewise, but not today. We did see about 8 caribou run in a field along the road along the way though.

Before we got to the park entrance, we stopped at Newspaper Rock, an rock with ancient drawings from natives aging past 1,000 years ago. No one knows what they mean...

Newspaper rock. This looks like it might be the Outdoors section...
